Asian Pulp Paper is one of the largest pulp and paper companies in the world. With China being the home of their most significant single market the new Shanghai office needs to adequately represent their market dominance. The lighting design is solemn in tone, a necessary understatement in line with APP’s maturity as a company. It is the design where lighting is felt but not seen with the exception of a few carefully selected pendants. The open office is distinguished from the public spaces with a functional lighting scheme that uses a cooler colour temperature to ensure the alertness and efficiency of its employees. Philip Rafael was the lead designer and managed this project as part of his work as Associate Director at Studio Illumine.
